Meet Verity Green: a pioneering British Deaf Athlete, dedicated healthcare professional, and passionate advocate for both the Deaf community and the Armed Forces Community. Deaf from the age of one, Verity has consistently defied limitations, achieving remarkable success across a spectrum of fields.
Professionally, Verity's expertise spans advanced physiotherapy in complex pain management and leadership as a Practice Development Lead within a specialist NHS service for military veterans. Her commitment to advocacy is evident in her work as an Independent Mental Health Advocate, including within forensic and Deaf specialist units. Notably, Verity was the first Deaf Mental Health First Aid (England) trainer and is a BACP Accredited Counsellor, focusing her skills on supporting individuals navigating multifaceted challenges.
Beyond her clinical practice, Verity is actively involved in crucial research addressing health inequalities within the Deaf community and the Armed Forces Community. She contributes significantly to initiatives aimed at making health and social care practices more culturally and linguistically appropriate and accessible for Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users and the Armed Forces Community.
A powerful voice for inclusivity, Verity champions the rights and full participation of Deaf and Deafblind individuals in all aspects of society. She actively supports organisations that promote engagement and accessibility, tirelessly raising awareness about the unique challenges faced by the communities she represents, particularly in accessing healthcare, social care, and sports opportunities.
